Concerning the letter from Linda McCormick (Monday, Sept. 10), excellent letter. Many of us have seen the same articles regarding property values, air and water pollution and antibiotic resistant bacteria. All you have to do is Google hog CAFOs, and there it all is.
Our local hospital pathologists have given us a wealth of information regarding the health issues of people in the vicinity of confined animal feeding operations, including CAFO owners and workers.
I am sorry this situation has caused such a rift in the community, but we did not create the issue — we were forced to defend our own property and our health and the welfare of the entire town.
I believe we now have in place a town council that is truly concerned with Brownstown’s future. They need the opportunity to take action to protect Brownstown and its fringe areas so that future growth and prosperity are possible.
