To the editor:
I read with great interest and special knowledge the Jan. 5-6 commentary about the basketball point spread in a recent high school girls game in Indianapolis.
The 107-2 point spread is labeled, and in today’s world regarded and printed, as “abject humiliation.” That label and that situation and resulting action has not always been the same.
I am about 95 years old, and I was graduated from Brownstown High School in 1936. I essentially attended all alumni banquets before and after attending college and joining the U.S. Army Air Corps, and at that time speeches were made by representatives of every class.
