Letter: Johns Hopkins physician inspiration to others

To the editor:

Dr. Benjamin Carson, head of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, was interviewed on Fox News by Sean Hannity on Feb. 16.

He is black, the son of a single black mother who was married at age 13 and only received a third-grade education. She made her two sons read books. The autobiography of Booker T. Washington, who had been a slave, inspired Ben to learn.
