Letter:Local organizations must help pick up pantry slack

To the editor:

Kudos to Paul Brock for opting out of federal funding for the local food pantry, Community Provisions of Jackson County. It’s a true sign of courage and character to stand up for what you believe in over the lure of money.

But this means local organizations like churches, fraternal clubs such as the Elks, Eagles and others need to help take up the slack.

If all of these could support the food bank with a monthly donation of $50 to $100, I think it would provide for the community without federal intervention.
