An opinion piece published in the May 12 issue of The Tribune titled “FDA’s caution wise move on e-cigarettes” was a great article explaining what would be covered in the federal government’s proposed new regulation of e-cigarettes.
There are more harms and unknowns that the piece didn’t mention that I would like to address — issues that have led to this decision.
One of the main components of the e-cigarette is the e-liquid that can be purchased along with the unit. Many children have ingested the e-liquid and have ended up in the hospital. It also can cause harm through inhalation or absorption through the skin or eyes.
