Immanuel Lutheran School teacher Sandy Franke never had a backup plan when it came to a career.

“I can’t remember ever not wanting to be a teacher,” she said. “I never considered any other occupation.”

As a girl, she played school with her little brother. He was the student, and she, of course, was the teacher.
