More than 2,300 miles from San Francisco, you will find some faithful 49ers fans in Seymour.

“I’ve been a 49ers fan probably since Super Bowl XVI in 1982, when they played in the Pontiac Silverdome just a few miles from my house,” said Susan Robinson, a Michigan native.

“I grew up a (Detroit) Lions fan. I remember watching them play on Thanksgiving as far back as I can remember.

“But when the Silverdome was given the Super Bowl, I really started following football in earnest. And, of course, there was Joe Montana — talented and good-looking.”

Then there’s Tom Franke, who got his son, Ben, on board as a 49ers fan. Tom said he was about 8 years old when he started liking the 49ers. He lived in Fort Wayne at the time.
