Club sponsors MelonFest, best-dressed baby contest

Country Friends Extension Homemakers Club is sponsoring the annual baby contest at this year’s MelonFest in Brownstown.

The contest will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the festival stage. Entry fee is $5. Age groups are: 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-24 months, 24-36 months boys and girls categories as well as the Best Dressed Watermelon Theme category.

Extension homemakers club holds annual picnic

Sauers Extension Homemakers club members recently held its annual picnic and meeting at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church park with a covered-dish meal.

All of the club’s members, along with guests, attended.

A trivia quiz on the top five Olympics closing ceremony traditions was held.

Joyce Hackman, Grace Stuckwisch and Alberta Roettger served on the picnic and meeting committee.
