Friends book sale will

benefit local libraries

The Friends of the Jackson County Public Library will have a book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday the Book Cellar at the Seymour Library.

The special during this sale is all items except children’s books priced at four for $1. Children’s books are two for $1.

Regular prices remain in the Seymour Library Book Nook and Crothersville and Medora cart sales.

Hardcover and large softcover books usually cost $1, pocket paperbacks and teens books 50 cents, DVDs $2 and CDs and books on tape/cds $1.

Proceeds from sales benefit programs at all library locations. Donations of gently used books are welcome anytime to help stock the Book Cellar and ongoing sales at the Seymour Library Book Nook or branch carts.

They may be left at the checkout desks at the Seymour, Crothersville or Medora libraries during regular library hours.

Oktoberfest prince, princess

applications available now

Beta Kappa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will be sponsoring the 2012 Oktoberfest Prince and Princess Contest.

According to a news release, all boys and girls who are residents of Jackson County and are between the ages of 6 and 10 before the Oktoberfest are eligible to enter.

The winning prince and princess are determined by who raises the most money. All contestants who turn in money will receive prizes and be eligible to ride in the parade.

The crowned prince and princess will each receive a bicycle provided by Beta Kappa and other prizes.

Funds raised by this project will benefit various Beta Kappa philanthropic projects. Some of the annual projects are United Way, Provisions, Reins to Recovery, SEPAC Scholarship fund, Jackson County Pregnancy Care Group, Camp Riley for handicapped children, Easter Seals and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The deadline for all applicants is Sept. 15.

Applications may be picked up at Indiana Bank and Trust at Second and Walnut streets, the mayor’s office, online at the Oktoberfest website or by contacting Barb Neville at 522-9863 or Beth White at 445-3815 after 6 p.m.

Kids’ craft program

planned at library

Jackson County Public Library will offer a free crafts program for children ages 5 through 11 at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Medora Library meeting room.

Participants will make a fall leaf pin.

Registration is required. To register or for information, call the Medora Library at 966-2278.

Craft program set

at Crothersville library

Jackson County Public Library will offer a free craft program for children ages 5 through 11 at 5:30 pm on Wednesday in the Crothersville Library meeting room.

Participants will make a wooden spool apple craft.

Registration is required. To register, or for information, call the Crothersville Library at 793-2927.
