Brownstown Central Community School Corp. was the only district in Jackson County to score above state average on the ISTEP+ exam this spring, but all local schools showed a drop in the percentage of students passing.

Results of the spring 2011 Indiana Statewide Testing for Education Progress Plus were released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Education.

Seymour Community Schools dropped around 1 percent from 66.3 percent to 65.2 percent in the number of students passing both the English/language arts and math portions of the test. Medora suffered the biggest loss, going from a 64.1 percent pass rate in 2011 to a 53.8 in 2012.
