There’s an old saying that goes, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Seymour is proud to be the home of two of the oldest businesses in all of Indiana. The company that we know as Seymour Manufacturing was formed in 1872. Older by 10 years is the John C. Groub Co., founded in 1862.

Both of these still-active companies are a great study in how a product that had value more than 141 years ago is still competitive in the marketplace. Yet the technology that is used to create profit for both companies and incomes for their thousands of employees over the years has changed in a way that would seem like science fiction to their founders.

The sale of food is about as old as any civilization one can think of.
