Local man faces charge of theft

A 22-year-old Jackson County man faces a theft charge related to an incident reported Tuesday evening at Hardy Lake State Reservoir east of Austin, police report.

According to a press release from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg, the arrest of James Stephan Tharp occurred at the residence of Eric L. Couch, 23, of Austin. Couch faces a similar theft charge in connection with the incident.

The arrests stem from an investigation that began when state troopers were called to the beach at Hardy Lake.
