Cougars rally past Thunderbirds in 4th quarter
Trinity Lutheran outscored host Eastern Greene 17-11 in the fourth quarter for a 53-50 win in Friday night's girls basketball game.
The Cougars (2-0) led 12-8 after one quarter before the Thunderbirds pulled within 26-25 at halftime and took a 39-36 lead into the final quarter.
Trinity coach Mike Lang said his seniors once again came through down the stretch. Brianna Sons led the Cougars with 15 points, followed by Haley Couch with 11 and Allison Posey with 10. Posey had a team-high seven rebounds.
Eastern Greene's Sierra New took game honors with 16 points.
Depth hurts Medora in road loss
Medora's girls basketball team had two players foul out, and the Hornets finished Friday's game at Cannelton with four players and lost 58-50.
Medora only trailed 35-34 going into the fourth quarter, but Cannelton put up 23 points to the Hornets' 16 in the final eight minutes.
The Hornets' Ashley Lambert scored a season-high 31 points. Heaven Riley led Medora (0-4) with nine rebounds to go along with six points.
Cannelton's Mikah Hemmings scored one more point than Lambert to lead all scorers.
Tigers lose by nine points at Orleans
Crothersville fell to 3-3 on the season with Friday's 41-32 loss at Orleans.
The Tigers trailed 18-8 at halftime before pulling within 25-18 going into the final quarter.
Abby Jewell led Crothersville with 11 points, while Katrina Christian had 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
