Man arrested in May shooting

The search for a Jackson County man suspected of shooting the back window out of another man’s vehicle May 27 ended Sunday outside a Scottsburg restaurant.

A tip led to the arrest of Jonathon Lee “Chisel” Chilton, 28, of Seymour, on Class C felony charges of attempted battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness with a weapon, and a Class C misdemeanor charge of possession of a handgun without a permit.

Sgt. Noel Houze with the Indiana State Police said officers “exhaustively searched” for Chilton since an incident in May near Crothersville. That incident on Bard Road left the back window shot out of a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Jay McGinnis, 35, of Austin.
