Man jailed after firing at police

Local police found themselves facing gunfire for the second time within a month after an incident early Monday on Seymour’s far east side.

That incident, in which no one was shot, left Jeremy C. French, 41, of Quail Creek in jail facing an attempted murder charge.

French’s arrest occurred after Jackson County dispatch received a call about a family fight with weapons involved, Sheriff Michael Carothers said. That call was received by dispatchers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
