Medical center offers tours of giant colon

You can take a walk through a giant colon to learn about colon health and cancer risks this month at Schneck Medical Center.

The Seymour hospital will kick off Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month with a walk-through model of a colon that will be on exhibit Monday and March 17. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Guided tours led by nurses of the 20-foot long colon, which will be located near the patient entrance off Brown Street, will show visitors what normal colon tissue looks like compared with advanced colon cancer, what a polyp looks like and how it can become malignant.
