Medora Community Schools, Seymour Community Schools, Trinity Lutheran High Schoool, Brownstown Central and Crothersville Community Schools will be closed Monday.
A combination of icy roads in the country and anticipated cold temperatures led to Superintendent Tom Judd's decision.
“I’m not going to put kids on the buses when it's that cold out,” he said. “And with the rain we’ve had, it’s going to freeze up and make the roads even worse.”
He said weather forecasts indicated that snow was still on the way and could arrive over night along with the sub-zero temperatures.
The morning low is expected to drop to -8 with strong winds making it fell like it's -20 to -33 degrees.
Seymour Superintendent Rob Hooker said concern about the low temperatures and potential win chill readings prompted his decision.
