Roy Edwards drew contact on a spin move along the baseline in the recent sectional game against Springs Valley, and that basket put him in an elite group.
That was when the 6-foot-5 Medora High School junior basketball player scored his 1,000th career point.
“As soon as I hit the shot, I jumped up and started pumping my fist, and everybody was coming toward me, and the crowd was chanting, ‘That’s a thousand,’” Edwards said. “I got so pumped up, and after about 30 to 45 seconds, it was over.”
Edwards finished with 15 points in the Hornets’ 68-42 loss to the Blackhawks, putting him at 1,007 career points.
