Medora’s volleyball team pulled out a win in five sets on Thursday, but Trinity Lutheran’s soccer and girls golf teams suffered losses.

 

Volleyball

Medora 3, West Washington 2

In Medora’s home opener, the Hornets defeated West Washington 19-25, 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13.

“We struggled there at the beginning, but they stayed mentally tough, they just kept pushing, and they played one point at a time,” Hornets coach Sara Carney said.

Hannah Elkins led Medora with 15 kills and six aces.

On Saturday, the Hornets (1-1) will play in the Eastern Greene Invitational.

 

Boys soccer

Greenwood Christian 2, Trinity Lutheran 0

Greenwood Christian scored a goal right before halftime and another goal 23 minutes into the second half before lightning struck.

Officials called the game, and Greenwood Christian won 2-0 over Trinity Lutheran.

On Saturday morning, Trinity (0-1) will play host to Rising Sun.

 

Girls golf

Christian Academy 188, Trinity Lutheran 227

Brennyn Pollert carded a career-low score of 47, but Christian Academy defeated Trinity Lutheran 188-227 at Hidden Creek Golf Club at Sellersburg.

Anna Nagino was next for Trinity with a 49, while Shelby Nierman had a 61, and Cassidy Prentice shot a 70 in her first match of the season.

Christian Academy’s Sydney Shrebtienko was medalist with a 2-over-par 37.

Today, the Cougars play host to Jac-Cen-Del and Milan.
