Archers already have been hitting the woods in search of white-tailed deer. Soon, more hunters will join them when firearms season opens Nov. 17.
Both types of hunters are operating under new rules this season for white-tailed deer.
Area deer hunters are invited to learn about these new rules by attending a special presentation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The program will cover changes to deer hunting rules and give hunters the opportunity to have questions answered.
Rex Watters, wildlife biologist for Monroe Lake, will lead the discussion.
The meeting will take place at the Activity Center at Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington. The property entrance fee will be waived for program attendees, who should check in at the entrance gate when they arrive.
