Money for subsidised rental assistance at risk from sequestration

Seymour Housing Authority had 200 applicants on its waiting list for federal housing assistance in 2011.

Two years later, that number has dwindled to 12.

On Monday, the agency will begin accepting applications again for Section 8 or low-income housing vouchers, which pay a portion, and in extreme cases all, of a qualified person or family’s monthly rent.
