More people on job in July as unemployment rate drops

Jackson County’s unemployment rate dropped four-tenths of a percent to 4.6 percent in July.

That drop means 21,439 people were on the job during the month compared to the 21,150 employed in June, an increase of 289 workers.

The report released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development also shows 1,160 more county residents were working in July than in the same month a year earlier when 20,279 people reported having jobs.
