Thirty-four more third graders in Jackson County have passed the IREAD3 after taking the exam a second time this summer.
But 71 still have not passed the state reading test that determines whether they are reading well enough to move on to fourth grade, according to results recently released lby the Indiana Department of Education.
That number is down from more than 100 who failed the test last spring.
