Nature readies another wallop

Local officials responsible for keeping roads clear and schoolchildren safe are nearly ready to put their hands up in surrender as another winter storm looms.

Forecasts from the National Weather Service in Indianapolis call for accumulations of snow and ice to cover most of the state, including Jackson County, this afternoon into Wednesday.

Higher snowfall totals — up to 10 inches — are expected in Indianapolis and areas north, with sleet and freezing rain being a bigger threat for southern Indiana.
