New book clubs planned for younger readers

Two new after-school book clubs will begin in January at the Brownstown Public Library.

The first is Cub Club for students in kindergarten and first grade. It will be 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17, Feb. 21, March 21, April 18 and May 16.

During these sessions, kindergarten participants will be paired with a first-grade student who will read the book selection aloud to them. During the discussion, each participant will explain what they like or dislike about the book.

The second club is Rocket Readers for second- and third-grade students. It runs 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March, 14, April 11 and May 9.

Readers will participate in quiet reading time while reading from a selected title.

Snacks will be provided, and book-related games, puzzles and crafts may be used at some meetings.

Registration is required.

Call the library at 358-2853 for information.
