More than 45 years ago, the people of this small Jackson County community decided to organize a festival to recognize the pioneer spirit of its earliest residents.
About 3,000 people attended the first festival back in 1969, including 65-year-old Debra Chadwick.
Chadwick, who now lives in Greenwood, has attended most of the 45 festivals, including this year’s on Saturday and Sunday.
