Rachel Roberts said the thing she likes most about soccer is her teammates.

“We lost a lot of my friends and great teammates last year, and they went on to play the next level of soccer,” the Seymour senior said.

“This year, we’ve really worked together. At the beginning of the season, none of us thought we were going to be any good. I think all of us were set on not having a fun season. We had a new coach coming in, and we were all pretty nervous, and somewhere in the middle of it all, we found out that we actually could potentially do something and do better than we thought.

“Our coaches have given us so much confidence,” she added. “I wasn’t that confident going into it. The past year and a half, my confidence has grown so much. I used to not want to touch the ball. I wanted them to keep the ball away from me, and now, I’ll mark up. Now, I’ve gotten used to it.”
