A potentially fatal virus found in swine will not affect next month’s Jackson County Fair, organizers say.
Some county fairs are taking extra precautions — including canceling swine shows — because of porcine epidemic diarrhea, which is sickening and killing pigs. But there are no cancellations for the local fair, and standard precautions will be in place, said Terry Melloncamp, fair board swine superintendent.
“Everything will go on like years past,” Melloncamp said.
