No more Saturday delivery; Post Office hours, package shipping to remain same

Tribune photo by Aaron Piper/ Seymour postal carrier Gerald Eads delivers mail along his route on Emerson Drive. Eads has been a postal worker for 24 years. The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday it will no longer be delivering mail on Saturdays effective this summer.

How dropping Saturday home mail delivery will affect Jackson County post offices remains uncertain.

Brownstown Postmaster Ron Rieckers said his office was made aware of the change Wednesday morning as the rest of the nation was hearing the news.

“Our carriers came in asking questions, and I told them I don’t know,” he said.
