Norman resident, 17, named finalist at pageant

Mariah Eve Phillips, 17, of Norman, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Indiana Pageant to be conducted July 4 to 6 in Indianapolis.

The pageants, for girls age 4 to 18, feature five age divisions, and Phillips will be participating in the teenage division. The Brownstown Central High School junior’s activities include fishing, camping, horseback riding and tennis.

Phillips, who plans to volunteer at Schneck Hospital this summer, also enjoys singing, going to the lake and boating. She knows American Sign Language because her mother, Amanda Loper, is deaf.
