O&k reaches 5 years in city



It’s been five years since O&k American Corp. reopened the shuttered Kobelco Metal Powder plant in Seymour’s Eastside Industrial Park.

Quietly, the Japanese-based company, which supplies steel coil wire to automotive, construction and other markets worldwide, has made its imprint on the city.

Starting with just half a dozen employees, some of whom were former Kobelco workers, O&k has grown to a workforce of more than 25.
