Officer faces threat charge, placed on paid leave by sheriff’s office

A Jennings County man employed as a police officer was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging him with intimidation, a Class D felony.

Officer Jason Bliton, 41, of North Vernon has been placed on administrative leave by Sheriff Steve Hoppock as a result of the state police investigation, Maj. Jerry Shepherd said.

Bliton is being paid while he is on administrative leave, which is the normal procedure, said Shepherd, who is public information officer for the sheriff’s department.
