Officials want to holster gun bill

School officials and child care advocates have targeted for defeat the section of a Senate bill that would allow adults to conceal firearms inside their vehicles on school property.

The language, proposed by state Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, was inserted into Senate Bill 229 last week and cleared the full House on Monday.

The measure now must survive a House-Senate conference committee to ensure it reaches the desk of Gov. Mike Pence for his signature.
