With 31.6 seconds left in Thursday’s boys basketball game, Columbus East’s Parker Chitty was called for a foul.
Brownstown Central’s Collin DeHart calmly sank both free throws for a 60-58 lead.
On the ensuing play, East let some time dwindle down before Chitty took the ball to the basket, but his shot was blocked. Brownstown had the rebound but stepped out of bounds with eight seconds on the clock.
Bryce Lienhoop got the ball on the inbounds play and found Chitty in the right corner, and Chitty swished the ball through the net for a 61-60 lead.
East celebrated, but the game wasn’t done.
