A New Whiteland man was killed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the last of three crashes near the I-65 Edinburgh exit after he failed to see a stopped semi, according to Indiana State Police.

Michael L. Otte, 56, New Whiteland, was driving a 2012 Ford Fiesta northbound on the interstate when it struck the back of a semi driven by Michael Vogel, 53, Rockford, Ill., according to Indiana State Police. Vogel was not injured.

The semi had stopped, and had its emergency flashers activated and working, because of another traffic accident ahead, according to Indiana State Police.
