Earlier this year, when Medora and Trinity Lutheran renewed their county rivalry in girls basketball, Trinity was without two starters but claimed a one-point win.

On Friday night, the teams met in the second semifinal game of the Class A Sectional 61, and Trinity won 58-42 to advance to tonight’s championship against West Washington, a 42-41 winner against Orleans in the other semifinal.

“We came out here and got the win,” Cougars coach Mike Lang said. “We knew Brad (McCammon) was going to have his kids ready and play hard. That’s what they do. They play hard; they don’t give up.

“We got a goal set like everyone else, and I can say we have a group of kids that are focused right now, and that is all we can ask for, is focus. We are getting some great senior leadership from our seniors helping everyone keep the focus.”
