Class 4A No. 7 Seymour and 3A No. 1 Brownstown Central were among the ranked volleyball teams in Saturday's loaded Providence Invitational, and both finished 2-2.
Seymour knocked off Shelbyville 25-20, 25-11 and 2A No. 1 Providence 25-21, 23-25, 15-11 to win its pool and advance to the gold division. There, the Owls suffered their first loss of the season to 4A No. 14 Roncalli, winning the first set 25-20 before falling 25-18, 15-12. Then, 4A No. 4 Cathedral defeated Seymour 25-21, 25-23.
Brownstown lost to Franklin 25-21, 27-25 and Cathedral 25-16, 25-20 before getting by Jasper 25-13, 25-17 and Shelbyville 25-11, 23-25, 15-12.
On the day, Hayden Dailey led Seymour (13-2) with 39 kills and 36 defensive digs, Emilee Pollmann had a team-high five aces and Jessica Lucas had 79 assists and was 41 of 41 in serving with four aces.
For Brownstown (10-4), Riley Wischmeier led with 35 kills, and Trinity Booher and Courtnie Pullen each had four aces.
