Seymour shuffled its lineup for Friday's home tennis match, and the Owls claimed a 5-0 win against Salem.
Marley Vehslage moved up to No. 1 singles and won 6-2, 6-2; Emma Wood switched to singles and won 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot; and Sara Doan filled the No. 3 spot and won 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 1 doubles, Payton Warren teamed with Karen Dringenburg for a 6-2, 6-1 win. And at No. 2 doubles, Sylvia Ashley and Lindsey Hume won 6-2, 6-1.
"Tonight was Lindsey Hume's first time playing varsity," Owls coach Jennifer Miller said. "Young teams like Salem give us a chance to get Emma and Marley playing up, and 3 singles is wide open at this point along with 2 doubles. We are definitely set with 1 doubles. Payton has stepped up her game to be where we need her to be going into conference play."
Ashley typically fills the No. 1 singles spot, but moving her to doubles for one match, Miller said, "gives her a chance to work on her aggressiveness with her net game."
Today, the Owls (3-1) make up their match against county rival Brownstown Central that was postponed Thursday because of the weather.
