When Logan Personett, Abby Thompson, Sidney Carr, Taylor Gossett and Brianna Gillaspy were on the same AAU basketball team from third to fifth grade, a trip to Dairy Queen often followed practices at the St. Ambrose Catholic School gymnasium in Seymour.
That was the girls’ reward for doing well in practices and tournaments.
“We’d be like, ‘Rodger (Lewis, coach), we want Dairy Queen,’ and we would do that all the time,” Gillaspy said.
“That was a majority of our practices,” Carr said. “We’d be like, ‘Oh, let’s go to Dairy Queen.’”

When Lewis and Matt Gillaspy put the AAU team together, there were three other girls on the team.
