Sidney Stout left the Hoosier Hills Conference girls swimming and diving meet without a plaque for the first time in her high school career, but the Seymour junior wasn’t disappointed.
Stout, who was on a winning relay team as a freshman and captured the 50-yard freestyle last season, was third in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free Saturday at Jennings County. But after being slowed by tendinitis in both rotator cuffs, Stout was pleased with her times of 26.35 seconds and 58.47.
“Coming off of that and getting decent times in my conference meet is good with what I had to deal with, with the pain and the stretches and all the things I have to do to keep myself healthy,” Stout said. “With my swimming this year, this was good for what I’ve been doing. I think I could have done better, but I’m happy with what I got. I just hope to come back and do better in sectional.”
