Saturday’s Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament was Seymour senior 145-pound wrestler Matthew Ruddick’s time to shine.

Through his first three years of high school wrestling, he had yet to claim an HHC title.

On Saturday, Ruddick broke through, pinning Bedford North Lawrence’s Marty Denesha in 2:47, beating Jennings County’s John Flynn 5-1 in the semifinals and holding on to beat New Albany’s Hunter Castleberry 8-6 in the championship.
