BEDFORD

Thursday’s sectional at Bedford North Lawrence High School was proof that every point matters in a track and field meet as Seymour edged the host Stars 126-125 1/2 for the title.

As for the other Jackson County teams, Brownstown Central was third with 94, Crothersville was ninth with 17, Trinity Lutheran was 10th with 15 and Medora was 12th with 4 ½.

After 12 events, the Stars led the Owls. But in the 3,200-meter run, Seymour’s Daniel Hauersperger and Jack Tormoehlen went 1-2 to push the Owls into the lead for good.

Tormoehlen won the 1,600 in 4:30.17, and Seymour was second in the 400 and 3,200 relays.
