Seymour had all seniors playing in Saturday’s Providence Invitational.
But none of them had played in a tournament at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, and only one of them — Paxton DeHaven — had played a practice round at the course.
DeHaven started on the back nine and shot 2-over 36, and she played even on the front to finish with 2-over 72, giving her fifth place out of 84 golfers. Fourteen other girls shot in the 70s, and Floyd Central’s Morgan Stanley was the only one to break that barrier, firing a 3-under 67 for medalist honors.
