Painting class set at winery

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is partnering with Chateau de Pique Winery at Seymour for its January Paint the Town.

The event will take place 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 25. Participants will paint "Silent Night," an acrylic painting, on 16-by-20 canvas.

“It’s a calm winter night with full moon and stars lighting up the sky. Students will get to experiment with mixing colors on the canvas for the sky to create the night glow," instructor Stephanie Mysak said.

Paint the Town is a social painting event.

“We want participants to join the fun; they do not have to have previous experience or talent," instructor Darnell Dukes added.

The center will provide all supplies and instructions and guide participants through completion of the picture in a few hours.

“It’s a way to beat the winter blahs with your family and friends and create a piece of art for yourself or to give as a gift,” Dukes added.

Class price of $30 includes all supplies and instruction. Wine, craft beer or other beverages are available to purchase from Chateau de Pique. Center members will receive a 20 percent discount on class price.

Class size is limited and preregistration and prepayment are recommended to reserve your spot. Contact the center at 812-522-2278 or email sicatreasurer@frontier.com to get signed up.

The winery is at 6361 N. 760E, Seymour.
