Philanthropy benefits more than just recipients



When I was a young boy growing up in Seymour, I witnessed giving firsthand through my family.

I watched my father give time to the Civil Air Patrol in Freeman Field. I went with my mother as she gave blood to the American Red Cross. I saw my family give financial support to aspiring journalists by creating a scholarship in memory of my late sister, Renee.

As I mentioned last month, giving can mean a lot as we explore philanthropy.
