Play it again, Sam: Historic piano returns to Crump Theatre

Irony lies in the fact that an instrument that apparently once broke the silence nearly a century ago at The Crump Theatre now sits quietly, if not mysteriously, at the classic venue in Columbus.

Rovene Quigley, the Crump’s volunteer executive director, wistfully ran one hand along the keyboard of the 1915 Howard upright piano sitting near the stage.

The resulting sound resonated as fairly melodic, though slightly out of tune.
