An Ohio man accused of removing his clothing at a North Vernon restaurant recently was taken to jail, police report.
Bennett Kraft, 30, of Cincinnati faces a Class B misdemeanor charge of public intoxication after the incident reported at Pizza Hut restaurant, 1545 W. 200N, according to a news release from North Vernon Officer Justin W. Black.
Black, the department's public information officer, said Kraft's arrest occurred after police officers — who also were eating at the restaurant — were told by employees that a man in another part of the restaurant was acting suspicious and taking off his clothes.
Officers investigated and found the man — later identified as Kraft — had already taken his shirt off and had unzipped himself, although he was not exposing himself from the waist down, Black said.
Black said officers detected a "very strong" odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Kraft, leading to his arrest.
The incident occurred Friday.
