Police: Man held wife as ‘slave’

A local man faces 38 charges including rape, criminal deviate conduct and criminal confinement after police discovered he had forced his wife to sign a contract to be his slave.

Kenneth Eugene Harden, 32, of Seymour, initially was arrested Saturday on strangulation and domestic battery charges related to an incident at his home.

A review of the case by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office led to the additional charges being filed Wednesday in Jackson Circuit Court along with a probable cause affidavit.
