A nearly yearlong investigation involving federal, state and local agencies led to the arrests of a North Vernon man and a Butlerville woman reportedly responsible for bringing illegally obtained prescription drugs into Jennings County on a regular basis.

David E. “Bear” Proffitt, 43, and Brandy L. Caudill, 31, were booked Tuesday into the Jennings County Jail.

Both are facing charges of dealing in prescription drugs, conspiracy, dealing in cocaine or narcotics and maintaining a common nuisance, according to police reports.

At this time, bond for each has been set at $40,055. However, investigators say more drug-related charges are likely to be filed as additional information is gathered.
