Police continue to investigate an incident in which a Jennings County teen died Saturday after jumping from a moving van on Seymour’s north side.
Jackson County Detective Bob Lucas said police do not suspect foul play in the incident that led to the death of 16-year-old Laikyn Field of North Vernon.
Field was riding in a 2008 Dodge Caravan driven east in the 600 block of Enos Road (County Road 700N) by her stepfather, Jason Bowerly. The girl’s mother, Kandle Bowerly, also was riding in the van. Lucas said the three reportedly had just left Seymour’s Oktoberfest and may have been heading home when the incident occurred.
